A lot of things converged to make September 27th unique. The aspen trees at Maroon Bells were at their peak color, a fleeting occurrence with Colorado’s unpredictable weather. The total lunar eclipse that evening coincided with a supermoon. And Tai and Stephen exchanged their wedding vows in Aspen.
We picked a quiet, secluded grove of aspen trees at Maroon Bells for the couple’s first look that helped them ignore the many tourists at the park snapping photos of the luminous yellow leaves. Then, they signed their ketubah with the “most photographed peaks in North America” as their backdrop before returning for their Aspen Meadows Resort wedding. A close friend performed their ceremony, on the patio overlooking Castle Creek with the Buttermilk Ski Area in the background and they sealed their union with a kiss (and a broken glass).
The night was rounded off with a lot of good food, some raucous dancing, and a breathtaking view for the supermoon eclipse. All in all, it was a one-of-a-kind celebration!
