Though Jesse and I are obsessive about beer, we also enjoy a taste of whiskey every now and then. So when Jessica mentioned that she and Robb wanted to incorporate whiskey into their engagement shoot, it spurred an impromptu competition to find a distillery where we could do our photo shoot (and sample the wares). After some thorough research and a much longer “Distilleries To Visit” list later, we landed on Golden Moon Speak.
Helpful photo hint: starting at a bar at 3:00 pm on a Monday helps ensure that you’ll have the place to yourself. Jessica and Robb decided to divide and concur–one ordered the rye whiskey while the other got the bourbon–a strategy of which I wholeheartedly approve. While they enjoyed their drinks, we took photos of them around the Speak. Before heading out, though, Jesse and I made sure to purchase our own bottle to sample when we got home.
After a short break for dinner, our next stop was the South Mesa Trailhead for a few golden hour photos. This beautiful hiking path starts near Eldorado Springs and runs all the way to Chautauqua Park. Despite both Jesse and Robb trying to convince me I was about to step on a snake, we made it through without any rattler incidents.
