What struck me most about Christie and Eric’s Beaver Creek wedding was something that the bride put into words herself: “We’ve got such amazing friends!” Not only were their friends an integral part of the wedding day – from ceremony readings to standing up in the wedding party to toasting the couple at the reception – they went above and beyond.
Music has always been an important part of Christie and Eric’s lives. Christie used to be a tour manager for a band and together, the two carefully crafted the playlist for the entire reception, thankfully leaving out the omnipresent Cupid Shuffle. Unbeknownst to either of them, though, their friends had secretly planned a surprise performance of Do You Realise? by The Flaming Lips.
During the final speech, one of Christie’s bridesmaids expressed that the best way she knew to properly toast the couple was through song. Another guest handed her a guitar and she dove in. As the song progressed, more guests joined in with their instruments (everything from trumpets to a xylophone) until the room was filled with music, singing and tears of joy.
Then there was nothing else left to do but dance the night away!
